We are excited to be seeking a new dynamic Chair and Advisory Board to provide advice, guidance and expertise to help the Architecture Fringe CIC navigate the next stages of our creative journey, through our organisational development, and ongoing commitment to the public common good.

We’re looking for a Chair and individual Advisory Board Members with proven track records across a range of intersectional specialisms to help meet the Architecture Fringe CIC’s aims and objectives, furthering positive social outcomes and championing the work of the organisation.

About the Advisory Board
We’re looking for a Chair and individual Advisory Board Members with proven track records across a range of intersectional specialisms inclusive of practice, education, finance, community work and climate change to help meet the Architecture Fringe CIC’s aims and objectives, furthering positive social outcomes and championing the work of the organisation.

The position of the Chair and Advisory Board Members are advisory only, with all decision-making and legal responsibilities for the Architecture Fringe Community Interest Company remaining with its directors. To support our own policies on access, equality, diversity and inclusion positions will receive an honorarium of £700 (inc VAT) annually tied to Scottish Artist Union Rates.


The positions and specialisms that we are looking for are:

● Advisory Board Chair

● Advisory Board Member with a specialism in: architecture & practice

● Advisory Board Member with a specialism in: architecture & education

● Advisory Board Member with a specialism in: finance & fundraising

● Advisory Board Member with a specialism in: community & engagement

● Advisory Board Member with a specialism in: climate, equity & spatial justice

The Chair and Advisory Board Members will be joined by the Creative Director and Communications Director of the Architecture Fringe CIC.

Remit
The Advisory Board’s remit is to provide advice, oversight, knowledge, and critical strategic thinking via discussion, constructive feedback and insightful, reflective analysis. Input from the Advisory Board will be integrated into our Annual Report. The Chair and Advisory Board Members remit consists of the following:

● A commitment to constructively support and champion the Architecture Fringe CIC to the public, sector, and government.

● A constructive commitment to the published aims and objectives of the organisation.

● To provide advice in relation to, but not exclusively restricted to, the specialism that each Advisory Board Member is generally associated with.

● To provide oversight and accountability to the organisation in relation to its governance and finances.

● To critically analyse, strategically reflect upon and constructively feedback on the focus, work and outputs of the organisation in respect of the published aims and objectives of the organisation.

In addition, the Chair will specifically:

● Call and confer the two ½ day Advisory Board Meetings in March and September respectively.

● Chair and facilitate the Advisory Board Meetings, ensuring that the Advisory Board remains within its remit

● Manages the Advisory Board Meeting agenda, ensuring in good-time that the Chair and Advisory Board Members are well-prepared with relevant information provided by the Architecture Fringe CIC.

● Provides guidance and advice to the Co-Directors of the Architecture Fringe CIC in relation to the remit, activity and composition of the Advisory Board.

● Encourage active participation from all Advisory Board Members.

Time commitment
The term of the Advisory Board will align with our Multi-Year Funding from Creative Scotland, with appointments to the Advisory Board being for 2 ½ years to March 2028. Time commitment to the Advisory Board two ½ days per year for the Advisory Board Meetings and approximately ½ day per month as and when required to advise or assist the Architecture Fringe Community Interest Company to meet its aims and objectives.

Person Specification
