The Mobile Ploposal
The giant head of Aberdeen's pre-eminent architect, Archibald Simpson houses a public art proposal unit, inviting the public to propose their own 'Plop Art'
SAT & SUN 08 & 09 June 2019 / 10am - 5pm
Various locations across city centre
Fully accessible / Children welcome
The Mobile Ploposal Machine will roam the city streets looking for people to generate ideas for spectacular new works of public art in Aberdeen. Using the self-contained, solar-powered, pop-up creative workshop hidden within the giant head, folk of all ages will be helped to create scale models of their ideas from a range of traditional, hands-on materials. These models will then be photographed and digitally manipulated to create posters which visualise the sculptures in various locations around the city. This project aims to engage citizens in the process of developing new visual, personal narratives in public spaces. These intuitive, playful, temporary interventions could perhaps function as a response to the seemingly opaque and arbitrary powers that shape our cities.
The event is part of the Look Again Festival in Aberdeen.
