An experimental, communal reading experience at BOOK—SPACE. A table, a group of strangers and wrapped book offerings — no titles, just a small recommendation and a key quote. Rooted in the spirit of temporary libraries and ritual exchanges, this gathering draws focus to the materiality of books, the gestures of giving, and the slow unfolding of shared curiosity.
The event invites discoveries across disciplines, creating opportunities to share personal journeys, conversations and new perspectives. It’s a space to slow down, share generously and invite new ways of thinking — while reflecting on architecture’s role as a framework for dialogue and exchange, resonating with this year’s Architecture Fringe theme of reciprocity.
BOOK—SPACE is a project designed to gather a community centred around architecture and design books and their reading within a common space. This temporal reading room at ESALA Projects space, adjacent to the architecture school, will host a range of events exploring the performativity of the book space and experimental, spatial reading practices.
The space is curated by Paula Szturc, Architecture by Design PhD student. Her research project with NGS focuses on Artists’ Books, exploring their material, spatial and sensorial aspects. Investigating the book as a critical object of knowledge, she examines relationships between form, space and architectures of reading.
