Join ESALA Climate Action to explore creative reuse!
ESALA Climate Action is a University of Edinburgh group focused on how the Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (ESALA) can better respond to the climate emergency. Over the last year, our work has primarily focused on material use in the studio. During Mattered, we invite the broader Edinburgh community to join us in celebrating what reciprocal material use could be.
Understanding the connection between studio work and material waste, ESALA Climate Action is interested in how material reciprocity could shift from something spoken about into a hands-on practice of joy, connection and community building. Using scavenged materials from end semester studio clear outs, the ESALA community will be invited to come together and create a single model that will be exhibited during Mattered.
As part of this exhibition, we will invite attendees to bring, exchange, take and create from a materials library on site. In doing so, we hope to create a moment of material reuse that extends beyond the ESALA community and into the broader Edinburgh community, encouraging attendees to consider how we can create with material lifecycles in mind.
