Join artists Raydale Dower and Toby Paterson on Go Skateboarding Day 2025 to hear about an exciting new public space at Glasgow’s Riverside Museum, designed with skateboarding and BMX in mind.
This innovative project is the result of a unique partnership between Glasgow Museums, Farrans Construction, Glasgow City Council and charity Glasgow Urban Sports. Capitalising on the landscape opportunities opened up by the construction of the Govan Bridge, this dynamic new public space enables urban sports like skateboarding and BMX to thrive in a way that is integrated into the wider context and functions of the museum.
As part of the Riverside Urban Sports Festival weekend, Raydale and Toby will share insights into the space’s design evolution, the role skateboarding and BMX play in Glasgow’s culture and future plans for another ambitious project led by Glasgow Urban Sports: Devon Street Urban Park, beneath the M74 on the city’s Southside.
Before the talk at 12 noon, The Loading Bay will offer free skateboarding lessons for kids and beginners starting at 10am. In the afternoon, enjoy an open skate jam with live DJs and street food. Sunday will feature a full day of BMX-focussed activities.
Come along to hear about Glasgow’s most exciting new public space, watch some of the action and maybe even get involved yourself!
Event is free and not ticketed.
